I'm not sure I like it either. There was a buzz about this on Twitter
(i.e. what the hipsters use). Alcon Entertainment, the people who are
buying the rights to Blade Runner, created "The Book of Eli", a sci-fi
set in the post-apocalyse starring Denzel Washington, so they may have
_some ideas_ for BR.

The news hit a lot of sites in the last couple of days, not sure if this
is Alcon trying to generate some buzz in the last phase of negotiations
or not;

When Iwas younger (eg when I wan 20, studying moviemaking and writing a memoire about BR) I would have died just with the idea that a sequel could be seriously made.
Now, more than ten years later, having seen the Tron sequel and not working in the moviemaking anymore (I'm graphic designer, illustrator and Flash coder), the idea of any BR sequel/prequel just looks insulting.

PS- at least, Tron Legacy was pretty cool, despite the fact that major studio control behind the making gave a dull standardized non-original universe and atmosphere. But the music was great :-)

I totally agree in both regards:
No sequel, prequel, whatever to Blade Runner, please!
And apart from the sound design and musical experience in Tron 0.2 I'd
rather watch the original Tron any time.
Tron Legacy was my first modern 3-D experience too. (no, I didn't watch
Avatar, sorry).
I won't miss it. (and I am saying this as being involved in 3D-animation -
the flat variety ;-D - as well, among other things!)

Have a better one,
ML

The whole BladeRunner universe and all the legal stuff around should be
dived into high-resistance glass and protected in a remote underground
secret base somewhere below the north pole.
And every filmmaker who would try to make something about BR should be
snipped headshot with no warning.*

Hahaha, didn't catch the "0.2" but it's so true.

Actually you should. Avatar is much more funny (I said "funny", I didn't
say "clever" or "deep") than Tron 0.2

Have a better one,
I'm waiting for Tron 0.3a for a better one. They say they will rebuild
the first Tron movie sets in 3D CGI. I can't miss this! :)

See you!

This is what Hollywood does best - ruin good books, remake classic movies
and ruin them, and now they will destroy everything that makes Blade Runner
great (which the producers tried to do from the beginning)
